Vintage 1928 National Tricone Style 3 Square Neck Resonator Guitar

Notes

  • Serial Number: 506 (stamped on the back of the neck, indicating early, low-number production).
  • Offered here is an exceptional, early-production masterpiece from the dawn of the resonator era: a 1928 National Tricone Style 3 Square Neck, featuring the highly desirable and intricate "Lily of the Valley" engraving. Bearing serial number 506, this instrument represents a very early, pre-production refinement example from the famed Los Angeles factory, having survived nearly a century in stunningly original condition.
  • In 1928, National was revolutionizing music, providing the first solution to the acoustic guitar's inability to be heard over big bands and early jazz orchestras. John Dopyera’s, brilliant invention—the Tricone—used three aluminum cones, yielding a sustain and melodic, almost choral tone far superior to later single-cone designs. The Style 3 was the deluxe offering of the day, priced at $165 (roughly equivalent to a high-end instrument today), featuring full German Silver construction and intricate floral artistry.
  • Square-neck configuration (designed for lap-style/Hawaiian playing), featuring a bound ebony fingerboard with classic diamond inlays.
  • Solid German Silver Body
  • Exquisite "Lily of the Valley" patterns on the body and upper bouts
  • Early "stud" style tailpiece
